My birthday falls on 20th of August, when I was in HK I used to celebrate my b-day with a bunch of friends that I made there. Celebrating in a group is much more enjoyable, especially when you are away from your love ones. It helps to cover up the homesickness thinking about them on this special day. Because when I was in the Philippines with my family, even though we were in financial inadequate my parents would still make a way to celebrate my birthday even just a very simple celebration. Since I spend most of my time working abroad, I can't help it to feel a little gloomy everytime my birthday comes, because all the memories were back when I was a kid, and I start missing my family. Now that I am here in the U.S. and by twist of fate, hubby and I have the same birth month. Before I got here they didn't really care about celebrating their birthdays, It was all started last year when I suggested to hubby to throw a small b-day party for his daughter. I think I brought my family tradition, and our filipino culture and that makes my husband happy. Hubby still knows how to surprise me, he knows what things I like, so even if he bought things for me w/out asking me what I want on my birthday, it always turns out that I love the things he bought.
During my birthday, our friends threw a b-day party for me, and it was held at their house. I am very grateful for the effort they made to care about my b-day.
